Error Handling

Error Cause Solution
Client constructor fails Missing INSTANTLYAPIKEY Check .env file
Namespace methods fail API scope mismatch Verify key has correct scopes
Import fails midway Network/rate limit Batch with retry (see instantly-performance-tuning)
Webhook events missing Webhook not registered Register after deploy (see instantly-webhooks-events)

Prerequisites

  • Named sender/campaign owners, consent and suppression authority, approved destinations, and a rollback owner for every campaign path.

Instructions

  1. Map every trigger-to-campaign edge with sender scope, consent/suppression policy, approval requirement, allowed operation, idempotency, observability, and rollback.
  2. Begin with synthetic recipients and draft-only campaigns; fail closed on unknown sender, recipient source, consent, suppression state, or destination.
  3. Make scheduling idempotent and bounded; quarantine uncertainty rather than sending, re-enrolling contacts, or exporting copy for debugging.
  4. Canary one draft-only campaign with aggregate signals and sends=0 before human release approval, retaining the previous revision.
  5. Re-evaluate controls on any change to senders, audiences, credentials, schedules, or consent policy.

Output

Produce an architecture record with owners, opaque campaign IDs, consent/suppression revisions, approval gates, idempotency/retry behavior, observability, test evidence, and rollback revision. Exclude recipients, copy, sender identities, and credentials.

Examples

source=ci-synthetic; campaign=sandbox-only; consent=r4; suppression=pass; approval=required; action=draft-only; sends=0; rollback=arch-r17 is a reviewable architecture receipt.
